Consultant Podiatric Surgeon

Mr Ben Yates is one of the leading podiatric surgeons in the UK. He graduated as a podiatrist in 1989, passing with distinction and a clinical prize. He completed his surgical fellowship in 1997 after training in Northampton and London, and gained his master’s degree in Sports Injuries and Management in 1999. From 2003 to 2024, he served as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon in the Department of Orthopaedics at the Great Western Hospital. He is the Director and founder of Matrix Foot and Ankle Ltd, which offers advanced podiatric surgery in Swindon and London.

Mr Yates has performed over 14,000 foot and ankle procedures. He has a particular interest in the conservative and surgical management of foot deformity and arthritis. He provides a holistic approach to foot and ankle care within a multidisciplinary team framework.

In 2020, he received the Meritorious Award from the Royal College of Podiatry for his outstanding contribution to podiatric surgery. In 2019, he was featured in a campaign by ACP promoting leadership in the surgical management of the high-risk foot for Health Education England.

He has lectured at both national and international conferences and contributed to multiple peer-reviewed articles. He chaired the UK National Conference for Podiatric Surgeons in 2011 and from 2014 to 2016. He has been course convener and keynote speaker for postgraduate surgical programmes on forefoot surgery, foot fusions, flatfoot surgery, the diabetic foot, and limb salvage both in the UK and overseas. He has also participated in charitable surgical programmes in India, Vietnam, and Ukraine.
